Certified Voice Artist Program Week TWO 27 June 2020

The second week of the Certified Voice Artist Program conducted by the Voicemaster, Pocholo de leon Gonzales, kicked off last Saturday June 27, 2020. This workshop was hosted by Host Shaine Cabardo or "ChicVoice", and yours truly Richard Abalos or "The Rich Voice". The workshop ran from 9am - 5pm.

The first part discussed about finding your Niche. As what was discussed last week, being a Voiceover Artist is not just about reading scripts, but it is about finding what voice best suits you. You can choose from Voice over, Character Voice, Radio/TV Commercial, Public Service Announcement, Audio-Visual Presentation or AVP, Radio Drama, and much more!

But of course, just like any other career, you need to know your market first. Because the Voiceover Industry is huge, you have to find a specific niche, instead of being everything to everyone. You have to consider the type of project, your voice quality and your specific skill.
Learn how to be crazy enough so you can do things ordinary people cannot do!

The next module focused on developing your voice. Because doing voiceover for a long time can damage your voice if not done correctly, you have to know how to properly modulate your voice and take care of it for longevity. You have to bear in mind your voice pitch, rhythm, tempo, placement, colume and mouth work to effectively create or mimic a character voice. Proper voice care would include drinking plenty of water, avoiding food & drink harmful to your voice, proper posture/breathing, and of course voice rest. If you feel your voice is of low quality for more than two weeks, do consult a doctor.

Finding your own niche and character may be difficult at first especially if your are just starting your career, but you need to know who you are and just like in singing, what kind of voice you have to identify what suits your voice best. Some may be great at dubbing, but poor in Audio Visual Presentation, and vice versa. At the end of the day, just do whatever works for you, and success will follow...
